A quality combination square is an incredibly versatile tool in the woodshop. Here are some of its most useful functions:

This well-made 4-piece combination square set includes:
- A cast square/miter head with a steel scribing pin and built-in level vial
- A 12″ reversible hardened steel rule
- A reversible cast-iron bevel protractor head
- A cast center-finding head
The rule features photo-engraved scales and a satin-chrome finish that reduces glare and resists rust. Square to within ±0.004″, it’s graduated in the 4R style (with laser-engraved marks in 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, and 64ths) and measures 0.090″ thick by 1″ (25mm) wide. It is straight and parallel within 0.001″ per foot.
The precisely machined heads have lapped faces and a smooth, baked-on enamel finish. The set comes in a fitted, foam-lined hardshell case.
