Maintaining perfectly flat sharpening stones is a must for optimal sharpening performance. When it comes time to flatten your Shapton Glass or Kuromaku ceramic stones, this Diamond Flattening Plate is the perfect solution. It has diamonds imbedded in dead-flat float glass as a substrate. Diamonds wear away the super hard ceramic and leave a smooth surface. The plate is guaranteed flat within +/-5 microns. Diamond grit size is 45 to 54 microns or roughly 320 to 400 grit, so it can be used to quickly flatten 8” x 3” stones from 500 to 30,000 grit. The plate comes attached to a rubber molded base. Plate is nickel plated to resist corrosion. The working surface measures 10″ × 2-13/16″. With an incredibly flat top, imbedded diamonds, swarf channels and rubber base, this plate differs from all other plastic or steel lapping plates on the market.
