Clifton 400 Shoulder Plane – 7/16″ Wide, 0.125″ Tool Steel Blade, Hrc 59–61

Description

The 400 Shoulder Rebate Plane has a fine mouth for cabinetmakers and those more demanding woodworkers wanting fine shavings in their precision work. The body is machined from quality grey iron casting and precision ground on the sole and sides and has a bright ground finish. The cutting iron fits smoothly onto the machined pads in the body and is held in place by a Walnut wedge. Adjustment of the cutting iron is done in the traditional manner by tapping the end of the cutting iron and locking the Walnut wedge in place. 

The 7/16” wide cutting iron is made from high-quality oil-hardened tool steel, with a hardness of 59-61 Rockwell “C,” and is precision surface ground to 0.125″ thick. Replacement irons are available.
